Brasstown BaldHiking Brasstown Bald is the highest point in Georgia, reaching an elevation of 4,784 feet above sea level. It is located in the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest near the town of Blairsville, not far from Blue Ridge. To reach the summit of Brasstown Bald, visitors can either take a 0.6-mile steep trail from the parking area or a bus to an observation tower. Even though this is a short, but steep hike, the rewards at the top are stunning.
From Blue Ridge to Blairsville, continue east down Hwy 515. From Blairsville take US 19 & 129 south for 8 miles. Turn left (east) onto Georgia 180. Go 9 miles to Georgia Spur 180 and turn left (north). Go 3 miles to the Brasstown Bald parking lot. |
