Blue Ridge Bucket List: Kids Edition A popular destination for getaways with friends, couples' retreats, family reunions, and more, Blue Ridge offers plenty to see and do to keep people coming back again and again. But did you know Blue Ridge also has plenty to do for kids, as well? If you're headed to the area with children, make sure you check off the items on this list!
1. Visit Mercier Orchards
At 200 acres, Mercier Orchards is the largest apple orchard in Georgia. It’s also Southern Living’s favorite “roadside apple market” of 2002. With countless goodies to offer, including their North Georgian fried pies—a local favorite, Mercier Orchards is also the perfect place for a fun family outing. Kids will love exploring this incredible specialty shop—and, of course, trying their famous fried apple pies.
2. Mine for gems at Lily Pad Village
The Lily Pad Village is wonderful, friendly family fun center located right in Blue Ridge where you can bring the kids to learn about local geography and mine for gems. Located in a shady mountain setting, children will have a great time seeing what treasures they can discover. They can also enoy putt-putt, pond fishing, ice cream, hiking, and an outdoor cafe—what more could any kid want?
3. Go Ziplining at Blue Ridge Canopy Tours |  The Memories Communication with the rental company was always timely, thorough, and professional.

Also, pretty cool that the train runs along the river. Access through the front door was easy with the code we were provided. Settling in: unlike most cabins, every room in this cabin had an en suite bathroom. So, our friends could pick from any room. Speaking of stairs, our friends walked down to the water. From the cabin you go down some stairs, walk a switchback, then hit some more stairs. Even so, we enjoyed the fire in the cabin and on the back deck. What we did: first, we cooked a lot in what may be the largest cabin kitchen I’ve ever seen. Also, the dining table was a great size for our meals and card games. We spent a day in downtown Blue Ridge. Get there early and check out all the shops. We watched the sun set over the mountains every day. Amazing! Had a relaxing time spending qualilty time with family, fishing, tubing, hiking. Loved all the fresh fruit from the local orchards and produce stands. The cabin is dreamy!
