5 Reasons to Visit Mercier OrchardsMercier Orchards is the largest apple orchard in Georgia, Southern Living magazine’s favorite “roadside apple market,” (according to a 2002 article), and one of our favorite spots in beautiful Blue Ridge! This local treasure is also so much more than an Apple Orchard, offering a wonderful specialty shop featuring unique North Georgia gifts and merchandise. Below you'll find five of our favorite reasons to visit this one-of-a-kind attraction.
1. Best Fried Pies in the SoutheastYour trip to Blue Ridge just isn’t complete without a visit to Mercier’s for one of their scrumptious fried apple pies. They open at 8:00 a.m., and there’s just no better way to start your day than with one (or two!) of their pies. They are the best, hands down!
2. Mercier's Hard Cider and WineHardpressed Beverages are available year-round at Mercier Orchards. Few wineries can claim that they grow, press, ferment, and bottle their own product. At Mercier's Cidery, they craft premium products that they proudly label as Georgia Grown. As far as we're concerned, they can also proudly label it as delicious!
3. U-Pick FruitMercier Orchards lets you pick your own seasonal fruit, complete with a wagon ride to and from the orchards! Enjoy picking apples, cherries, or strawberries, depending on the time of year. It's fun for anyone, and a perfect family activity!
4. Apple CiderOf course, Mercier's Apple Cider is a mainstay of the store and a must-try! Pressed in their very own orchards, their apple cider is made using hand-picked apples and bottled onsite. Without any additives, you're just drinking apples, pure and simple. Great hot or cold!
5. Apple Cider DonutsEating fresh donuts is one thing, but eating a made-from-scratch-with-fresh-apple-cider donut is an entirely different experience. These delicious desserts are made with Mercier's very own apple cider from their very own apples. Another must-try! |
