Stanley Gap Loop is some excellent North Georgia riding through the heavy forest of the Blue Ridge. The reward for the challenging climb from Stanley Gap to the top of Rocky Mountain is a 1000 ft descent over two miles on narrow singletrack with lots of roots and rocks to contend with. This route starts at the Shady Falls parking area with a pavement ride south along Aska Road. A short diversion onto Flat Creek River Road avoids a small segment of Aska Road. After 2.5 miles, you begin a climb on Stanley Creek Road. The first two miles of Stanley Creek Road are also paved. This gives way to gravel but the real climbing also begins. | The MemoriesThe Fallen Timber Lodge was a fantastic house to spend time together with friends. The Fallen Timber Lodge was a fantastic house to spend time together with friends. It provided a large living area outside and inside to enjoy visiting with each other. The views are outstanding and can be accessed both inside the home and along the large outside porch area. We had 8 persons sharing the space and it was quite spacious. The amenities in the home were great, we were able to cook/grill dinner with ease. The surrounding area was quiet and the river access was an added bonus. We were also able to enjoy the hot tub and pool table to pass the time together. So many choices to eat and visit in Blue Ridge which are within 15 minute drive from the home. What a great time with the Battery Center gals. Beautiful place, beautiful people! Loved it! See you next year! What a great time with the Battery Center gals. Beautiful place, beautiful people!
