Turkey Farm Loop

Mountain Biking
Level of Difficulty: Intermediate

The Turkey Farm ride uses gravel forest roads, a gated section of forest road, a winding trail on a roadbed through an old farmstead, and a short section of paved road to make an excellent beginner ride and all-weather loop. The forest road follows the shoreline of Lake Blue Ridge for some distance. The forest road on the other side of the loop reveals great views of the higher peaks in the area and reminds you of more strenuous rides for other days. The leaf-watching on this ride is spectacular in high season.

The first downhill section to the gate has some deceptively tricky, dozer-built, launching pad-grade dips. The section running through the old farmstead is one of the most pleasant miles of riding in the area. The foundations of old farm buildings give cause for reflection on past uses of the land while you roll through. The listed forest and county roads are open to motorized traffic.
