First Day:
After a full travel day in the car or on a plane, unwind at your luxury cabin and explore the amenities to which you have full access! For a slow, relaxing evening, stop by Mystic Mountain Pizza for a few tasty pies to satisfy your weary bones. As you begin your family vacation, relish the quality time by perusing the game room and board games at your vacation rental or curl up with a movie! When your eyes begin to droop, collapse in your pillowy mattress and enjoy the best night's sleep you have had in ages.
Second Day:
After preparing for the day's adventures, head out into either the Aska Adventure Area or towards the Ocoee Whitewater Center for an exhilarating first day in North Georgia! On Aska Road, enjoy gem mining and tubing on the Toccoa River with Aska Mining Company or Toccoa Valley Campground. Families of all ages enjoy this memorable excursion, and it is definitely one to keep on the top of your Blue Ridge bucket list. If a more thrilling day suits your fancy, go whitewater rafting at the 1996 Olympics site with Rolling Thunder! Careen your way down the Class I to IV rapids and enjoy a bonding moment with this adrenaline rush.
At the end of the day, retire to your luxury home to clean up and prepare a lovely dinner, and then head back into downtown to catch a drive-in movie! Only one of three drive-in theaters left in Georgia; the Swan Drive-In captures the vintage nature and wholesome fun of what watching a movie used to be like.
Third-Day:
On your second full day in North Georgia, take a ride on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway! Leading you from Blue Ridge, GA, to the Georgia/Tennessee line in McCaysville, GA/Copperhill, TN, this lax train ride winds along the Toccoa River breaks at the state line for shopping and photo opportunities and then brings you back to Blue Ridge. While in McCaysville, stop by the Twisted Tomato for lunch, snap a family photo at the State line, enjoy a sweet treat at Happy Bear Ice Cream and Treats, and purchase some retro souvenirs at Deaf Man Vinyl!
When you return to Blue Ridge, the opportunities for family fun abound! Visit Vertigo Pinball for an adult beverage while your kids enjoy the variety of pinball machines, stop by Huck's General Store for old-fashioned candy and toys to entertain all ages, or explore 2nd Story Entertainment for a maze of mini golf in a 100+ year-old hotel! After all this excitement, let your rumbling stomachs lead you to Masseria Kitchen and Bar, a contemporary, casual restaurant preparing thin-crust pizzas & Mediterranean-inspired fare.
Fourth Day:
Given that summer weather in Blue Ridge is sunny and warm 90% of the time, enjoy a boating day on Lake Blue Ridge! Make sure to rent a pontoon boat from Blue Ridge Boat Rentals in advance to secure your excursion. When you need to restock on food, visit Boat Dock Bar and Grill at Lake Blue Ridge Marina for a bite to eat.
Fifth Day:
To wrap up your final day in North Georgia, enjoy a family-friendly hike at The Swinging Bridge! This suspension bridge perched over the Toccoa River offers stunning views and the opportunity to splash around. Or you can visit Toccoa Riverside Restaurant in the Aska Adventure Area for lunch on the river. After enjoying your tasty meal, you must cap off your North Georgia vacation at Mercier Orchards for some tried and true fried apple pies and other homemade goods. As you return to your luxury cabin for your final evening, share your favorite experiences with your loved ones and watch the sunset on your perfect family vacation.
