Timed at a 75 minute drive through the beautiful North GA Mountain, the wildly kitschy little town - jam-packed into 2.1 square miles - of Helen, Georgia charms its way into our list of things to do by its Bavarian-style hotels, cobblestone walkways, wineries an artisan tours. The evolution into an alpine village began in 1968 when a group of businessmen set out to revitalize their town.

It’s a day trip taking a step back into homestead days, which were attracted and founded on the gold and timber industries in the area. Family fun activities include mini golf, Alpine Speedway Slot Car Racing, axe-throwing at AxeBilly, escape rooms, tubing, horseback riding, zip-lining, old time photo portraits, wildlife activities with Wildwood Outfitters, and a mountain coaster on an old mine car railway. 

October is the most popular time to visit Helen given the beautiful fall foliage in the North GA Mountains and the famed Oktoberfest in Helen.
